Y0X0 set up

Don't know how to explain this. I'm using Torchmate Cad 8. When I draw up a part I set it up on Z0X0. When I set X0Y0 for the job set up the machine will move sometimes a foot across the table and start burning were I didn't set up X0Y0. What Am I doing wrong. I always set up my lead ins @ .100 . I use to just move the material to were it wanted to start but now I'm cutting bigger stuff and cant do that.

How are you generating the file? Are you generating GCODE straight out TMCAD or DXF into your system?

Right from TMCAD. Can this be corrected in Plotter settings?

Here is that rectangle rip I was trying to do that I mentioned in the tips and tricks. What I like to do is set up the torch to start on were I set zero at on the VMC.
I'm use to running CNC mills so this is how I'm use to setting a piece to be cut.

I have a setting not set right in Cad.
Because I will set zero on the machine bed and the dang torch will move half way across my table and want to start cutting the piece there. I meant VMD not VMC.
Is there away to run a part on the VMD with out having it hooked up to the machine so I can do a dry run to see how it will run on the table .

The VMD needs the AM to operate.

Does the JOG KEYS correspond to the movements of the machine? ie Y+ button runs the gantry away from you?

Sorry wrong file. Here it is. I'm not at my machine I'm on the road stuck in a hotel trying to utilize down time to get some of these bugs worked out.

ok so what you just sent me was a L shape that went 46" and towards 0, o.

In the MACHINE OUTPUT you can simulate the Gcode. is that what you are doing to check these files?

Go to VIEW/SHOW TOOL PATHS ONLY

You can determine where the lead in is placed by going under the LEAD IN/OUT tab when you generate the tool path.
I like to use the MIDDLE OF LONGEST SEGMENT to keep the corners sharp

So why is it traveling so far from my Z0Y0 to start cutting.

The part you created is an upside down L, you have two possible start points, it just so happens it is starting at the top of the L, the gcode is doing what it is programmed to do. How you designed it and where you positioned it on the TM Cad screen. If you would like it to start at the other end of the line then before you create tool path adjust your start point, double click to node edit select and right click on a node and mouse over the swirly direction icon and release, this changes the direction the arrow starts from, then create your online tool path.

In the screen shot below program zero is bottom left, depending on where it starts it can either rapid travel to the right and start cutting up the screen or it can in the case of this gcode rapid travel up the screen and begin cutting to the right then down the screen. Seems pretty simple.
