Torchmate X table datum error.

Hi there. First I want to thank those in the past who have helped me. The table has been working good for the last while until today.

I started up everything to find that when I datum the table it moves down correctly on the y axis to the bottom of the table but then instead of going to the left to datum it goes to the right until it goes out of bounds and gives me an out of extents or something error.

When I watch the VMD software, the cutting area looks corect but when I datum it brings the gantry over to the right side of the cutting area. If I move it over where it should be on the table then it is extremely far out of bounds about the width of the cutting area.

We were just using it the other day and shut it down to start it up to have this problem.

Any ideas of what to check would really help us out.

It appears to just be the x axis which moved it's datum point to the other side.

Thanks!

Well it appears after fooling around with it for quite a while that it datums correctly again. Might have been moving the gantry as far as I could to the left then hitting datum. Not sure. But it works now. :D

Sounds like you had a stuck limit switch, if the limit was stuck in the up position it would detect that the switch is tripped and try to move in the positive direction to get off the switch. When you Login in as Admin and go to Machine Settings look at the Inputs Tab here you can see what state the limit is in, if the led light is on it would indicate the switch is in its normal state, with the light off the switch has been tripped.

I think you are right about this. I think the light may have been off. If the switch is tripped how do you fix it?

From what I can tell I just moved the gantry to it's full limits and it started working again. If that is what actually got it working again. I did try out other things too.

Thanks for the response!
Paul
