Torchmate CAD nesting failure: Invalid state

Dear Forumites

Let me get this off my chest right now: I'm deeply unhappy abut the move from Pirate 4x4. Torchmate, you had no moral right to do this! I'm livid. The support on Pirate was one of the, if not *the* reason, why I bought from you.

Having said that I can forever hold my peace. Now to my problem: I'm trying to nest on Torchmate CAD Ver 8.0 Rev 1, and I'm getting the message "Invalid state. Can not open the library in this state". In which state will this work? Texas? Any idea what's happening?

Best regards
Arthur

Sorry to hear your frustration with the move to an independent site without all of the ads, requirements, and garbage information... but I digress.

This is a database issue. Are you nesting tool paths with your design? usually this happens when tool paths are generated on multiple computers with CAD.

Good morning

No, I'm nesting imported DXF parts that are quite complicated, but not more complicated than I've done before. I'm only creating toolpaths after nesting and I only work on one computer, with one user. The issue seems to be with the giraffes in the uploaded file, but it propagates right through to all other designs, once I tried to to nest them. When I open Torchmate CAD and nest without touching the giraffes, it works perfectly, until I include them in the nesting collection. Other error messages that come up: "Invalid state. Can not construct the geometry in this state." "Part: object 74. Can not analyze the input state". This is the first time I'm seeing this behaviour.

(The ads and requirements never bothered me much, the brain becomes quite adapt at filtering out ads. As to the garbage information, couldn't have been much of it, because it got me and countless others on their feet. This forum is even less independent, being manufacturer sponsored, as far as I can tell.)

Well you are here and that is all that matters.

A few things that stick out in my mind regarding this file.

1. Multiple layers
2. Multiple pages

and the lead outs in your cut paths...

But lead outs will not cause the issue with the nesting.

As far as you nesting settings. What do you usually use for the settings at the top as these will effect the outcome.
If you can screen shot your settings I can play around with it more to see fi it is a possible setting that is causing the issue.

Also I would recommend reinstalling your CAD to give it the "updated" backend to version 9 but the front end will be version 8.
Download the version 9 package and go through the install process.

After playing around with this file and nesting/re nesting is that I'm not having the same outcome besides it creating more pages. Being you are using ver8 and Im using 9 maybe it is a possible version issue.

The second layer is empty. I tried nesting everything but the giraffes, it distributed the cuts over two pages, as it should, no issues there. There shouldn't be any cut-paths, as I haven't generated them yet. I attached a screen shot of the nesting settings. Normally I use 2° rotation, I just tried 5° to see if that would make a difference.

I thought about a reinstall (since I installed a 3D printer driver, maybe one of the Torchmate driver was overwritten?), but am very nervous to do this, as I'm not sure where I have the correct passwords for the installation. I think I may have had an issue with that a while back. But since it nests on your computer, a re-installation seems to be the only way to go. Will look around for some courage.

well if you run the setup it will modify your install so really from a install perspective it is pretty painless as it doesnt remove or change anything.

Try 3 degrees as that is my magic number for nesting.

Also uncheck KEEP GROUPS INTACT as you do not have "groups" in your image.

Keep me posted.
