Quick tip: Needle scalers work great for easy dross removel. No more sanding, chipping or scraping. $$ saved on flap discs. Easy cleanup. Dross stays on the table instead of the floor.

I picked up a $28 needle scaler from Harbor freight and it works great. It leaves small marks on the metal but since it's the back of the part it's not an issue. They easily sand away if you want. Just be sure to clean the oil off the scalers before using.

Don't dread the dross!!

I was looking at one to make patterns in metal like fish type scales. Now that it will serve two purposes will have to pick one up

needlers and tiger claws are my go to to remove dross. More the tiger because it doesnt leave a pattern.

What's a tiger claw?

I have needle scaler too, works pretty well, but i still go over it with a flap when i'm done.

I use tiger claws for pullin my pork after I smoke it but never used them on dross.
