Thinking about changing the way I originally set up my table/slats. Wanted to see if others would share their setups and what they like/dislike about them.

I'd also like anyone's input on ways to improve mine. I recently went to pointed slats and I kept it simple with a water tray underneath, seperate from the table so it's easy to clean and change water. I have removed every other slat to help with parts tipping up and catching the torch head.

I have the factory water table in my 4x4 table. The flat bar slats are right in the water. I will have to post a picture tomorrow. What I wanted to share was my troubles and solution to loosing small parts after they are cut. I found it really hard to find cut pieces after they drop into the water and lay in that black carbon mud in the bottom of the water table. My solution ( so far - everything is a work in progress ) is that I bent some flattened expanded metal ( approx 3"x 3" x 10" - 12" long and layed them in between each flatbar slat. Now my parts drop onto the expanded metal and all of the mud is down below. I have been using them for a few months now and they are working well.

Good idea. Do you leave them in all the time or just when you need to catch something?

I have been thinking of doing the same thing. I hate finishing for parts in the table, especially when the water is cold.
I also removed every other slat. Where did you get pointed slats from and how do you like it? I thought about doing it but never did

I made them on my table. They work much better. I think I'm actually going to try to make the points almost 2 inches long maybe even 3 inches long to help even further with things falling away and not getting stuck

Oh ya I guess you can do that lol. I can't since my torchmate water table the slats are longer than 2". Do you like them compared to just flat?

Having points definitely helped. I think longer would be better. I made my slats half the distance of the table and put a support in the middle.

I put one of my spare pieces on top of some plate I was cutting. You can see the expanded metal under the water. It works well and catches most stuff.
Thoughts ? Can I improve on this ?

they are in all the time. I'm sure I will have to replace them at some point when they rust out.

the vertical side just sits on the bottom of the table and the horizontal piece just fits between the slats snuggly so they dont tip over.
