Node edit ?

One of my students was designing his project and has changed a setting where when we double click a line to edit the nodes none of them show up. I know it is probably a simple fix, he just clicked or changed a setting. Can anyone assist? It would be greatly appreciated, Thank you

First thing is to start by pressing ALT + D. This will redraw the screen.
Next I would save the file.
Close the program. restart the computer. Start the program and open the file again.

There isn't a toggle that I know of that turns nodes off/on.
