I haven't tried it but a mate of mine who ran commercial plasma cutters said he did but stuck the plates together with a thin coat of oil.

BigJoe there are multiple reasons not why this could potentially not work. First is the possibility that they will get welded together either from the heat of the torch or the oils on the material bind together through the plasma. Secondly, depending on how thin the material is, the air pressure from the plasma head can air build up between the plates causing some of your upper plates to move and fluctuate resulting in parts that aren't right and loss of material. It might work, but better safe than sorry depending on what you are cutting.

I haven't cut multiple layers on my table but I always cut multiple 4x8 sheets down with my hand held (powermax 45) at the same time. I cut three 14g 4x8 sheets at once. I'll cut them down into 2x4 pieces to fit my table. Saves a ton of time. I have no issues doing it. But I agree with the others, I wouldn't attempt it on my table, at least not for anything more than a straight line to sever a sheet. I have cut two sheets at once on my buddys 5x10 table for the same reason with no issues but again just cutting straight lines to piece out larger sheets, not cutting parts.

I cut 2 and 3 sheets of 16 gauge on my 2x4 table. Though just straight line cuts sheering them down to 2'. They stick together a little on the cut edge but pop right loose.

ok cool , I think I will use my handheld as well for now ..
