Flexcut 80 Issue

Started having issues with my 4400 today and I am lost and needing some help from someone who is smarter than I am. I have a Flexcut80 with Accumove 2.

Everything ran smoothly for hours cutting 1/8 then the torch started nosediving into the material. We checked consumables and all showed near end of life, so I replaced all of them. After hitting run job the torchhead will touch the material lift up air will blow out the torch but it will not arc. Moved to different area on the material yet same problem. No error codes are coming up on VMD or the Flexcut80. Tried shutting everything down and restarting but have the same problem.
And help or advice that y’all have on fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Generally no arc indicates the electrode may be seized up, unscrew the retaining cap and check that the electrode springs back freely when you press it up with your finger. If it seems to stick in place or there is a lot of black soot on it, then that can indicate water in your air lines. Check into a Motor Guard air filter or the like to trap the moisture in the air lines.

Thanks for for the help. It was seized up and tech support has me set up to fix it. I have an air dryer as well as a motor guard filter in the air line, but that is good information to know for the future. Still trying to figure out the cause so it doesn’t happen again. I have students operating the table and wonder if when he changed the electrode if he overtightend. Could that have caused it? Thanks again.

Yes that could cause it, electrodes should only be finger tightened no more than that, just to the point where the threads bottom out. As well as a tiny bit of anti-seize on the threads.
