Cutmaster 52 settings

I have a 2x2 growth series with accumove 2. And I'm struggling to get decent cuts on thin 16ga range.

I'm using 9-8208 40a nozzle, 9-8245 shield, and a mech torch. On the VMD screen I have been trying to use book specs for the 52 but it seems I'm cutting way to high. Tonight I just measured the distance between the nozzle to the face of the shield and it was .118, should I be compensating for this difference on my screen numbers? Book is .19, so on the screen should I be at .09?

Well the thinner material would require a lower amperage along with a faster speed. Run a line speed test with your torch set to .16 pierce height and .08 for the cut height. Being that you are running 16 ga the distance wouldn't have much effect but the feed rate will. You might need to increase the percentage of the line speed to get into the higher ranges +170ipms if the only good cut is 170.

Problem has been not cutting completely through set at 40a. I have been reading about people cutting 1/4 at 40a, so I'm guessing I need to adjust my input cut height in VMD, to compensate for the roughly 1/8" difference between the tip of the nozzle and the face of the shield?

If your plasma isnt cutting through then check: pierce delay, amperage set on the plasma power supply, ground to material you are cutting. The torch tip to material distance should be around 1/16-1/8 pending on amperage and material thickness. If you are within those distances that I stated in prior post and are at 40 amp cutting 16ga then you should be have no issues getting through the material.
