I have a Growth Series 4 x 4. Spent some time with Chad on Chat the other day and learned a few things. I still have a problem with "retract error" that occurs during the movement between cuts. It will finish one part and when the head moves to the next location, the error occurs. The height control shows "Retract Failure". When it actually stopped, the Z axis is not moving.

The item most currently that was tried was moving all of the signal cables away from the plasma lead. They are separated by about 3" now.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Generally this indicates the motor needs to be reprogrammed, follow the steps below:

To reprogram the motor turn off the electronics box, once off press and hold the 'OK' button and turn the box on, then release OK button. Press up once the screen should say 'Factory Menu' press OK to enter this menu then scroll down until it says 'Download Program to Motor' you will need to press 'Cut' and 'OK' to send the program. The screen will count through lines of code until the program is sent, you can then turn the electronics off and then on again.

That was it. Thank you very much. Any ideas what would cause this?

Motor lost its programming, doesn't happen very often, usually due to interference/electrical noise from the machine torch. Making sure the machine torch does not cross over any cables or is not zip tied to any other cables is something you want to look for.
