Plate Marker

What do you guys use to hold down a small piece of metal you use the plate marker on? I had a half sheet of 4x8 11g stainless that the marker was still moving around on the table, messing up the alignment of the letters. What pressures are you running to the plate marker? I am running no more than 90psi to on board pressure regulator that has the green marks around 30. So far it seems to work better at 20psi from the on board regulator. Also is there a way to lessen the force or speed of the initial down stroke? It seems way to forceful. And finally when does the tip need to be replaced and how?

There's your problem your down force is to extreme, the regulator on the plate marker governs the down force. Drop it down to 12 to 15 psi and it wont drag the metal, the pen itself will need to be replaced if it gets bent from to much down force. You can gain access to the tip by using the wrench flats on the marker.

So the green marks around the 30 psi area should be avoided? Where can new tips be bought? and how often should it be replaced?

The green marks show at the 12 o'clock position around 15 psi, see pic. You can buy replacement tips from our parts department. How often would depends on it use, the same with plasma consumables, it depends, I would recommend using your best judgement.
