hi.ive had a problem with my torchmate machine for a while now.the picture illustrates the issue.

none of my internal cuts end up where they should be.this was drawn up in torchmate cad, with the internal hole central.piece is 4 inches long and the internal slot is 1/8 out.

size wise, both internal and extermal are perfect.just not in the right place.

any ideas why this would happen.

thanks
wayne

Your table loses position during the rapid travel times between cuts, this is something to do with mechanical. What size table is this if it is growth series, check the alignment of the Aluminum L brackets and how they bolt up to the gantry to drive it up and down the table. You want to look for the up and down adjustment (holes are dead center and adjust support bearing in necessary), as well as side to side adjustment (no gap and no interference adjust rail spacing accordingly). Check this with the gantry at the end of the table and do this at both ends of the table.

its a tm3 on a home built table.is there a way of reducing the travel speed between cuts..this is an older red box machine

Yes this is the other option I would of mentioned. You can go to Configuration > Machine > Feedrate Ramping and drop your Maximum Feedrate down a little bit. Also change your Fast Jog Speed to match the new setting, found under Preferences > Jogging. Then you can jog the table at fast speed to see if you can reliable run the table at that feedrate.

I had the exact same issue. Fought it for weeks. It was the feed rate ramping as dnmeister describes. After I started paying attention to it I could see it "stall" as it moved from one cut to another. But it was random. Didn't do it all the time. Mine was set at 250ipm. I switched to 150 and no more problems.
