Font Colors & Line/Fill Questions

Few questions for any resident CAD professionals. I'm using CAD Lite if that matters.

  • What does the "P" stand for next to each palette color? Appears it is not Pantone since they don't match
  • When creating custom colors they have an "sc" by them. What does that stand for?
  • After creating new colors in the custom color creator they do not stay in the color pallet when exiting from the current project. Is there a way to save them permenantly to the main color palette? They do save in the "custom palette colors" list but when I click on them I just get a loud beep. They have to be re-added manually and renamed by first searching in my "custom palette". I have attached a pic.
  • What function does the "Line/Fill" option serve on the color palette toolbar? It appears it creates an outline but I can't seem to figure out how. Pic attached.

1. P=PALETTE.
2. SC=Spot Color
3. In that wizard screen select "ADD TO SHOP PALETTE ALSO. If you are creating certain colors and want to save them for other projects you want to RIGHT CLICK the color bar and SAVE/SAVE AS... you will generate a *.pal file. This "should" load when you open the software. Im testing on CAD 9 so it works in that so not sure about LITE.
4. Line/Fill button makes it so a single left click will fill either the stroke/fill. So instead of left click/right click on the mouse to change the fill/stroke color you can just press that button and left click for either the stroke or fill.

On a completely different note are you planning on running a plotter or printer out of the CAD or would just like to make things more colorful when you are creating? Reason I ask is that none of the colors transfer over to the cutting table so a lot of this is completely unnecessary in the CAD to MACHINE operation and actually could cause WELD issues if elements are not the same color when processing.
Either or hope this answers your questions.

Thanks. I'll see if that works.

In response to your second question, I like to show my customers exactly what they will be getting so there are no surprises. This includes color and usually a custom color to match something they already have. I export every design to pdf and attach to my quotes, in color.

Thanks for the info.

So the right click and SAVE/SAVE AS on the color bar worked for saving my custom PAL file but it continued to load the default file when opening a new CDL or an existing one. I would have to right click LOAD NEW to reload my custom pal file each time. It appeared the default pal file was called "factorydefault" so I moved it out of the program files folder and renamed my PAL file "factory default". That works for new CDL's and my PAL file will always open with those CDL's but if I open an existing CDL that was saved with the original PAL file it will again load the original palette. It appears when you save a CDL file the existing color palette saves with it? I attempted to load my PAL file and re-save the CDL to test this theory but it will not allow me to load a new PAL with an existing object.

The fact that my custom PAL loads with all new projects is a win. Thxs again for the info.
