DIY TM side rails, table etc

I have a spare 2x2 gantry, anyone ever build their own side rails and table for it? Debating on what to do with it. I'd like to make it a 2x4 table and something other than a drivescrew. Looking for ideas

It would be pretty simple as there isnt much to be desired on the mechanics of the GS tables.

Ive heard of some people eliminating the lead screw and going straight linear rail instead while adding rack and pinion setup. Might be best to look for a used/scrapped 4x4 and grab the sides.

Nobody around here even knows what a torchmate is. I really want to do linear rails to get some better speeds. By chance you don't happen to have pictures or anything?
would be great if Lincoln came out with a bolt on upgrade kit for the GS stuff.

The GS machines were discontinued so there will be no more HARDWARE upgrades to that machine.

I think it would be fairly easy to convert it to two vertical motors and a gear rack setup like other TM tables.

Yes. Two vertical motors on the gantry running on two gear racks mounted to the inside of both sides of the table.

Like was mentioned earlier there are a ton of pics out there, look at TM1, TM2, TM3, TMX all have rack and pinion.
