I know this this is an age old question but I am experiencing divots on the back side of the metal at the leadin. is there a way to fix this in cad or is it a mechanical issue.
Plasma process. You can add a little OVERLAP with a ARC leadin and that usually helps smooth out the indentations caused by the leadin/stop for the torch. Also verifying the KERF diameter is correct for the amperage that you are cutting. Go through your tool paths in CAD (VIEW/SHOW TOOL PATHS ONLY + SHOW TOOL DIAMETER) to make sure that the lead ins are not intruding on the actual cut path.
How thick.?. Amperage.?. Usually I give it what ever your kerf correction is (plus a little) on the 1/4 or less as thicker plate you would do half the thickness of the material. Make a little test piece with a few different variables on it and try it out to get what YOU are looking for.
