I am hoping to use my machine to be able to cut out some light boxes for my custom headracks i make, but do not know how to go about designing it properly within the software. i start off with a rectangle, then need to angle the corners accordingly. Is there a way to do this correctly the first time so i do not have to keep cutting and testing ? picture for example
I watched the tutorial but nothing I saw regarding implementing angles. Attached is a rough example as to what I'm looking to do
Draw a 10x5 rectangle , then arrange convert to polyarc, double click on object to get into node edit mode, select top 2 nodes , drag or arrow to desired angle
As Kchoghead pointed out, you can use snap lines to set your desired angle, right click on the ruler to snap a guide line, then drag the guideline to the desired angle, align your square up with the bottom edge of the guide line, and drag the top two nodes till the top edge lines up with the upper guide line. And Bluesteel is correct, you first have to make path on the rectangle in order for the nodes to show up.
I've never used the snap feature (in the past 4 years) but tried it and it snaps to the grid as expected. Is there a way to make it snap to a nearest line or end point of an existing object?
Worst case scenario is to cut one the desired size, shape, & angle out of cardboard and take a straight on pic of it. Import it as a jpeg pic and then trace the outline with the line tool. Discard the jpeg when done and resize to your desired size. generate the gcode and cut. Sometimes this works better than the scan and trace tool.
