Hello all, I have the 4x4 growth series and I have a question. I took the ACME screw out of my Gantry to make repairs and have bent it. Does anyone know the exact specs so I can order another one from the internet?
I called and all they would tell me is the parts are discontinued. All the info I got was that it was a 7/16 acme screw and thats it ????????
Seriously - not available? I just bought a GS 4x4 table last fall. Just looked on the website and TM is still selling the GS 4x4. So I hope this is just some miscommunication between you and TM parts as this is not good news.
Hope you got a good price because you can call and they will tell you they are discontinued. When parts run out your SOL..... they cant even give me the specs on the drive ACME rod in the gantry. One would think an engineering drawing exist to show this but I cant get anything out of them.
Ronnie, In the mean time, a 7/16" ACME screw thread is standard so you just need to figure out the thread pitch and whether it is a LH or RH thread. Then you will have to cut the screw to length and turn the ends down to fit whatever bearings TM has it mounted to. I would also inspect/replace the ACME nut at same time (if replaceable).
Ok Ive chatted this up the chain to verify that we do have them in stock and to do a PC. Ill get back with you guy with the down low.
What happens when you guys stop selling replacement parts, will you tell us where to get more at? I'm worried if my anti back lash nuts shit the bed. Where do i go?
I'm in the same boat. I was an early adopter of the 4x4 machine and now my backlash nuts have some age on them.
I would still like an answer whether the 4x4 GS tables will have parts support in the future. The main reason I went with TM is their excellent record of customer support and this does not bode well in that regard if one has to make an issue of it on a forum to get a much needed part (from dwindling supply??).
Give them a call and ask. They tell me it's discontinued. the entire growth series line. I spoke with Jose C. in parts
Yeah I just checked the website and the GS 4x4 link now goes to the 4400 and 4800 series tables. Where as just YESTERDAY the website was still selling them. So 6 months ago I spent nearly $15 grand on a product right at the very end of it's life cycle and the company is not supporting it any longer. GREAT.
The GS itself has been discontinued, that is correct. Typically, we stock only the wear and tear replacement items and these remain available. If an item is no longer stocked or manufactured then we do the best we can to provide the specs or a source so you can obtain it. Support remains the exact same for all customers of the Growth Series and we will continue to support these machines.
Why weren't we told this when we bought our machines? I would of thought about the 4400 at that point
I too have a gs 4x4...while it concerns me that parts from torchmate may not be available at some point, I do realize that torchmate does not manufacture most of the wear items ..so they ought to be able to be sourced from the manufacturer
ya but we don't know who they are for some parts. and other parts like the side rails are made by torchmate (from what I know) drive screws can be had from mcmaster carr. bearing from anywhere. control box is made by flashcut. Motors are pretty standard. I would like to find out if anyone other than lincoln made the side rails for when I want to expand and who makes the anti back lash nuts in case my crap out.
I wouldn't sweat the 4' side rails. Just get some aluminum t slot extrusion and make your own. Buy the 4'acme screw and guide rails from Torchmate if they will sell them to you, if not, source them out. Measure the end plate for critical measurements and draw and cut your own on your 2x2. I love my 2x4 Growth Series and have just about worn it out in 5 years. I'm disappointed they have quit selling them and that parts availability will diminish.
