I'm cutting 3/8 AR500 steel and the machine recently started having a really bad chamfer on it. All around the cut, it is angled the same direction, and it makes me think the torch head is angled. I've put a square on the material up the the torch and it is square in every direction. I'm now lost on why it is doing this.. Also, I just replaced the consumables to rule that out.
It could be your something with your settings i.e. Torch head height speed. I would check settings first. We have had similar issues with thicker material. When we have cut AR plate in the pass we went a little bit slower than what the same size material in mild steel was.
Think of the plasma beam as a football. Goal is to get the center of the football in the center of the material. This is all CUT HEIGHT. Then since the beam is dynamic, feedrate alters how straight the beam is up/down. if you are going too fast then you are pulling the beam through the metal to where as too slow, pushing the beam. When you start getting bevel, is it the same all around (settings), parallel sides (nozzle, level), or not consistent (level, settings)?
