So my problem is. When I'm cutting a file it works fine then all of a sudden when it's moving to cut out the next section, it will make like a grinding noise and come to a stop and start cutting when it comes to a stop even though that's not where it's suppose to cut. So I have to press stop datum it, then continue to cut in order to cut out properly. It's a huge pain because I've had it start cutting in the middle of a design an ruin it.
You haven't provided enough information for anyone to help you. I can tell you have an Accumove controller, what table do you have, what is the size. You are running into problems with mechanical binding, much like when a train derails due to lack of maintenance you are having the same issues here. Check that there is minimal backlash between motor and gear rack assembly (within .004) or if you have lead screws that there is no back and forth play in the lead screw assembly.
The same way you check to see if anything else is loose, grab the motor assembly and move it back and forth to feel for any play in the assembly. Your motors are spring-loaded, so the spur gear is fully meshed into the gear rack, the drive system is belt and pulley, you will need to check that the belts are still tight, that there is only 1/8" deflection when you push in the middle of the belt. You will need to take off the motor covers on either side of the gantry. See the alignment guide attached as well to ensure gantry is square when you hit Datum.
