Edu file to Cdl file

I have a teacher friend that i am helping getting his growth series 4x4 edu version back up and running . He sent an edu file to work on and i couldnt open it in cad v9. what is the fix for this

 

will an edu version of cad open a cad .cdl file

 

Yes Edu version of Cad will open both file types, though normal Cad will not.

 

the file that my teacher friend sent me (dfx) when i imported it into cad 9 had double lines throughout the file. I cleaned it all up and put on usb stick(cdl) , took it to him . when we opened the cleaned up file in his edu version 9 . the double lines all came back. I have had double lines from imported filed before but never experienced this before. Could his edu version be causing the double lines?

 

Are you creating a tool path and showing the original as well as the tool path, that would be a double line. The edu version operates the same as cdl version, just different native file extensions.

 

no toolpath created when saved......I understand if that were the case but not in this instance
