People have been asking me to post how to draw the fire pits that I make. The first thing to know is that you will use hexagons and pentagons. The second is to decide how large you will want the fire pit to be. We usually will use 6.5"- 8" sides the smaller shapes will usually fit onto one sheet of material. We will usually use 12ga material. To help with the sizing of your shapes, I use a website: http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-plane/polygon.php This enables me to play with the shapes and measurements until I get my desired size. Make sure that you change the measurement to inches or centimeters, and you desired significant figures For the pentagon for example, if I desire the side to be 6.5” the R would be 5.53” for hexagons, it is easy, the number of sides to 6 and the R to 6.5” Make sure that you convert the shapes to a polyarc. For the base and fill pieces, you want to cut a hexagon in half and use those pieces. I usually use the ginsu knife function for this. Or use the node edit and click on the middle garbage button on the bottom edit tool row and delete the line segments you do not need. Then I click on the middle button on the top edit tool row and highlight the two nodes you want to connect and hit “J” on my keyboard. Once I get my desired size and shapes, I start to insert and drawn the designs I want.

Here is a DXF for the pit that I use and a pattern of what you need to make one. I think it is about 30 in diameter. I use it as a base to make different pits.
