Some of our students made this custom table for one of our teachers. He wanted a propane fire pit so he didn't have the smoke and wanted the names of his kids and wife on the table. The students had a great time with it and we now have people wanting them to build more.
I'll tell the kids and thank you!! They built a door on the front that swings open. I thought the same thing about the curtains and even having it in the house scared me. He says they use it all the time and they like the ability that it's portable for outside use as well.
Amazing concept. I am unsure like many others about the indoor use of a Propane fire pit. I guess if the room has good ventilation....... Props to the students
We use 45amp tips with our Hypertherm torch and the top is cut out of 14ga mild steel. Looking at their notes cut speed was 80ipm, initial pierce .12 and cut height was .07
Turned out very nice. I would like to know about the whole build with piping and stuff as I feel this is a fantastic project for anyone.
Thank you for the kind words. The regulator and gas line we purchased from www.easyfirepits.com as they come as a kit. I have had students use the ones from local sporting good stores and they only put out around 5psi. So if you like the ability to adjust the flames with higher output I would go with a 20psi adjustable regulator. The flame tubing is 1" stainless and we just capped one end and welded stainless fittings so they would screw into the "T" pipe fitting coming from the propane bottle. The top is cut out of 3/16" HR with a 2"x 1/8" flat bar for skirting. The skeleton is made out of 1" x 11ga sq. tube with 18ga HR sheets for the door and sides. We used 2" x 3/16 flat bar for the outer base for stability. If I left anything out just let me know.
