Been cutting a lot of hr 16g lately. Always had do a lot of dross cleanup... So I cut out line speed test at different amps... 30, 40, and 45... oh and I changed to new consumables.. believe it or not the best cut was with 45a at 80 ipm. I always thought i was running too slow at 120... then I did as Chad calls it, a real world test on a square with circle and virtually no dross...yeah!!!! System is gs 4x4 with hypertherm pm45 . Hope this helps someone else out
No dross is a good feeling. Less time spent on dross = more $$ made on part. Sounds about right. I cut 14g on my 2x2 GS with pm45 at 75ipm and 42.5amps with very little dross (hand crank height adjustment) I cut the same 14g on my TMX and pm85 at 205ipm at 45 amps with basically zero dross (auto THC and fine cut consumables). Amazing how there's that much of a difference at the same amps but with bigger plasma. Just shows the value in using the line speed test. Chads gonna be happy your representin' !! He preaches about that line speed test. It's definitely helped me establish all my GS table baselines. I've been lucky the Hypertherm book values have been spot on with my TMX table.
just did a line speed test on 14 gauge.... best cut 150ipm... real world test circle and square ...no dross.. wondering why such a difference from my 16 gauge test. and all cuts at 45 amp
I cut 14g with PM45 at 42.5amps at 75ipm with no water table and no warp unless there's a small strip that wants to pull up sometimes. But I can't do that with my PM85 or my old PM125. I've seen even though I set 45 amps and same speed on all 3, the cut is not the same.
