I was cutting a file yesterday everything going fine, them ohmic light turns on when torch starts down then when then ohmic light comes on , the torch in mid air, humming and freezes right there. did reset, ran torch to top, reset z axis, did a run from here at error point, hit start and torch fires in air then starts movement. this happens 3 more times then I change z axis a little and repeat to start and It starts and cuts fine... Any ideas on this?

Ohmic is detecting in the air do to debri in the shield cap making contact with the nozzle, this could be either slag or even water can conduct electricity as there are metal particles in the water. Once ohmic is detected the torch will start to slowly raise up until ohmic is not detected anymore at that point will raise to what it thinks is pierce height and fire the torch. Short answer is debri in the shield cap.

Well I would watch the screen while you are running to verify that OHMIC is being detected in air. If you are using the FineCut consumables they are susceptible to false detection as the shield cap is so close to the sides of the nozzle so water will cause the ohmic to trip. Possible unscrew the shield about a 1/4 turn to give a little more space and help the wawa drip out with the air.
