cut two parts fine with the machine and now I am getting a limit code. Nothing has changed and I'm stumped . What did I fuck up this time?
The limit was exceeded because the distance to retract is less than your retract distance defined in the software. In Job Setup you can define the Retract Position by jogging the Z down from the top of its travel, (the top of its travel being Zero when you click Reset Z) to some point above your material. Keep in mind you want to avoid tip ups if cutting small parts, press Set to define this position. Common error is pressing Reset Z when the Z axis is not at the top of its travel.
I set my top of material (shown) then pull the torch up to where I would like it to retract to (shown) from what I have gathered from the videos this is how to set the parameters. Am I doing it incorrectly ?
Those numbers are not in the range they were designed for. Top of Material is only needed if Ohmic is turned Off, you would then jog the Z axis down till it is touching the material and press Set next to Top of Material, the value would be a negative number. You would then jog up 2 or 3 inches off the plate and press Set next to Partial Retract Position again would be a negative number. With the Z at the top of its travel Machine Position will read Zero, if not then you can Press Reset Z to set it to Zero from there all movements in the down direction is negative travel. Once you have Reset the Z position at the top and if you then jog the Z down to either set your partial retract or top of material or just want the torch closer to the material to better find a Program Zero location, to raise the Z up press Set Program Zero then press Go to Program Zero and this will raise the Z up to its upper most position.
Is the Retract setting tab going to be available as software update for the 4400 and 4800 tables? Mark did the video and I couldn't find it on my job setup screen so I called and was told that it isn't on the 4400 or 4800 tables. It looked like mark was doing it on the new tables though.
I use the Job setup tab constantly. Thats why I called them to find out why I don't have it. Is your machine a 4400 or 4800 or a different model?
In 4400/4800 models the Retract Position is now located under Machine Settings once you Login as Admin.
OHMIC just detects the material and thats it. You can set retract height. 4x00 machines are preset to 2 inches.
I usually go in to job set up and tuch off the top of the material and hi set in the top of material box than jog the z up to were I want it to retract to and set that for every job I set up for. Is this a waist of time when using Ohmic sensing and AVHC ? What is IHS used for. Sorry I hope I'm not Hijacking this post. I like that flag file. Thanks AJ www.outlawchutes.com
IHS is based on when it looks for the material via ohmic. So on ALWAYS it will always look for material. on OPTIMAL it will look a the MATERIAL THICKNESS and generate a radius around the first pierce to look for material. So every 6-10 pierces it will detect once or twice. Ohmic is just to detect the material and has no bearing on AVHC.
