Best way to get quotes for fab drawings?

I used to be a cost estimator. It's inefficient to call up each vendor and get quotes for a good price. What do you guys do?

 

Are you referring to the "actual" CAD drawings or the overall cutting process?

 

I would like to know the average price rate on both. I have ended up on both ends of the spectrum in this aspect, either I look like a highway robber or i'm practically giving it away.. I would like to find a happy medium but each job is so much different than the last.

 

Design work can fetch anywhere from $70-125 an hr pending on what you are doing and such. Here is a link to a cut calculator that accounts for metal costs and consumable usage.
