Table Slats for 4x4 Growth Series

Hi All,
I am ready to make slats for my 4x4 GS table.

1. What is the consensus on slat height for the GS table? Manual says 3-4".

2. The manual gives lengths: 19 slats at 25" long and 19 more slats at 30-1/2" long. But the manual I get this spec from is for the older 3 piece table not the newer 2 piece water table. Any difference?

3. How to make these? Hand cut with plasma and straight edge? Have someone shear them for me?

3/16" x 3.5" flat bar sheared is the "easiest". I believe with the 2 pan the slats size is 27.5"-28" long.

 

Never thought of using flat bar, I planned on "ripping" or shearing some sheet down to size. Did some quick phoning around and found some for same price as a sheet of 3/16" - thanks!

Can you confirm that 27.5-28" length is correct? I may just have them cut it to size. Thanks again.

 

I have a 2 piece water tray and used 3" flat bar...works great... mad a jig for length and cut with hand plasma

 

I use the flat bar also. I have also cut it on the table from hot rolled sheet, but I have a 4X8 table.

Thanks everybody. Got the slats all cut to length from 3/16 x 3-1/2 bar and ready to go.

 

I also used flat bar. I found it useful to put spikes on the slats. Pretty common, seen them on many tables. Once my flat ones were in place I cut new ones with 1/2" spikes every 4" or so. I ran a bar down the middle of my table so the slats are two piece. Spikes really help keep the material flat after a lot of build up.

 

A functioning plasma table is needed to cut parts for the plasma table build. I am using the 2x2 to build parts for the 6x12 table..
