Drags the torch

    Machine will do the dry run just fine perfect in fact but when I start to cut it gets about a quarter in to protect and starts Draging the torch every time and at the same place

    Are you running the AVHC in AUTO mode or MANUAL?

    Your Set voltage would be too low. Voltage is directly correlated to the height of the torch. If the set voltage is too low it will drag, too high and it will run high up off the material.

    Keep in mind that voltage is also affected by material thickness, type, feedrate, consumable wear, etc. So you will need to adjust that value when you make changes to the job. If you are using the latest version of the VMD software you should have a Sample Voltage option which will work to set the value for you when it is turned on and I would recommend using that, otherwise if you do not have the software with that feature you will have to run a test cut in MANUAL mode to see what the voltage goes to.

    Is it possible to edit a dxf file after being saved? How can you do it ?thanks

    Yes you can import the dxf back into Torchmate Cad software. Keep in mind a dxf file is a tool path, so it is a broken shape with leadins. In other words you would need to delete the leadins after importing, then ensure the object is closed by using the Show Fill tool to make sure it looks ok then create your tool path again.

    Hi again. Go to cut object torch goes to to top of plate then comes up exceeds axis limits . What now just got done cutting out a project and went to this one

    The Z axis defines its movement from the top of its travel, we have a reset Z button that allows you to jog the torch to the top and pressing this button sets its position to Zero. For instance if the Z is positioned somewhere in the middle of its travel when you Datum the machine this will Zero all axis, you would then need to jog the the Z up to top it out and press Reset Z. You need to be aware of where the Z is at and its coordinates before running a job.

    Also any tips on where to set arc voltage cut height and cut speed on 16 ga.would be really appreciated. Having trouble fine tuning it. Thanks in advance

    Run a line speed test in MANUAL. Once you determine the proper speed for that material thickness and amperage then set up a test part. Run the test part in MANUAL. During that cut look at the CURRENT VOLTAGE that is being read in. Take That number and average it. Add 2 and enter as your SET VOLTAGE. Kick it back into AUTO and run the test part again.
