Hi guys, I am following along with the TM CAD 8 PDF manual (I am actually using ver. 9), and it states that the drawing must be deleted before sending the toolpath to the VMD - why? And is there a way to convert a toolpath back to a drawing later? Thanks! Will
Morning Will, This is because the TMCAD 8 manual was designed for the older Signal Generator model controllers using TM3 and TM4 software. This software would allow you to use a DXF file to import into the cut program. If you didn't delete your original you would end up with duplicate parts or a ghosted image. With the new VMD software it does not support the DXF file format. The VMD supports GM G-code files that are generated through MACHINE - OUTPUT. I would refer you to http://www.torchmate.com/university. This has CAD videos showing you CAD 9 and videos for the procedure for VMD.
Hi Guys, I ordered the 4x4 GS w/water table, Flexcut 80, extra hand torch, with TM CAD V9. I hope to have the machine in a few weeks so in the mean time TM was kind enough to send me the dongle key and software disk and I got this up and running to learn as I wait for my machine. Funny thing is I am working off a ver8 user manual as I cannot seem to find a version 9 anywhere. I contacted support and they sent me an even earlier revision user manual than the version 8 I am using. So I am wondering if there is even a user manual for version 9 yet. (?) If there is one I would like to get it PLEASE! Brian, if I understand correctly, with Ver. 9 I do not have to delete the drawing - I just have to generate the .fgc file via MACHINE-OUTPUT-CUT NOW and send that file to the VMD and I am good to go? Thanks!
my machine should be here about the same time, wonder if there gonna send me a disc/dongle to help get started. watching the videos , sometimes he goes a little too fast for me we will wait and see..
Good luck getting a dangle key and disc. They refuse to send me that instead emailed me a bunch of worthless vids
We got it about the 11th of July. I tried to get them to send that dongle key and disk but they said they would not separate the order like that.so we had to wait. Instead they sent me some videos that was of no use. We are still trying to get it going
so you have the machine setup ? what issues are you having? so that I might know what to look for when I start . thanks in advance
Just an update. I have been told that there is no Version 9 manual, but they are working on revising the version 8 manual to reflect the new features and differences. Customer support has been great , but it is frustrating that a updated manual is not available presently. (sigh...)
First of all make sure you got the right manual and parts to assemble it. The problem I am having is the torch start dragging after about 6" of cut . It just drops in the same place every time.
This is a test cut I tried to run. Star in a square. Makes dry run great. It starts out good just go to hell after a bit
The differences between Version 8 and 9 are minimal, V9 adds Custom Parts (self explanatory), Hole Centers Tool Path and Ginsu Knife (there is a video showing how to use this), matter of fact the videos in the Torchmate University will get you on your way faster than any manual we can provide.
We have more information on our Website than ever before including Software and Assembly manuals that you can download.
I have downloaded the assembly manual, can I get some direction and password if needed for the software download? I think I was told that I would not be able to save anything. that's ok just want to get some hands on. or send it to me xfrito@prodigy.net lmk thanks joe
